Tournament Info
DMS holds two tournaments each year. We also sponsor entry for two DMS Teams to fish other area Tournaments.
Our larger event is the DMS Invitational, which is held in October every year and is open to the public.
We also have an Intra-Club tournament in November. This members-only tournament is for the most sought-after award – bragging rights!
DMS also fields two teams to fish other area tournaments. Currently, DMS sponsors a team in the AMSA Ronald Bounds Tournament, held in mid-October every year, and the Ocracoke Island Surf Fishing Tournament, usually held during the first week in May. The entry fee is provided for both tournaments, Addidtionally, the Team receives a small stipend to help offset costs incurred at the Ocracoke tournament. Teams are selected by drawing.
The following rules for DMS-sponsored teams were adopted at the March, 2010 General Meeting and apply to all DMS-sponsored teams:
All team members MUST be DMS members in good standing as of the date of the tournament drawing.
The Team Captain shall have 5 points in the 12-month period prior to the date of the tournament drawing.
The team Captain shall submit the Team roster from DMS members in good standing at the time of the drawing.
A DMS member may only be on one team per drawing.
A DMS member may only fish in one tournment per year.
If the Captain or a team Member cannot attend the tournament, the alternate shall be added to the team to make up the necessary six anglers.
Any and all winnings belong to the Team.
The drawing for the Ocracoke tournament shall be held at the Fall Feast preceeding that Tournament.
The drawing for the AMSA tournament shall be held at the Annual Dinner preceeding that Tournament.
In case of emergency, The President, with the approval of the Board of Directors, may waive any of these Tournament Rules.
Note: The DMS member that is the Team Captain for a proposed Team must be present at the time of the drawing. For a 6-person Team, the proposed roster should include an alternate that must be a DMS member in good standing.
NOTE: Future drawings for the AMSA Tournament will be held at the Annual Dinner held in March.
